What an affiliate link is
An affiliate link is a link to a casino that lets the casino know a visitor came from us. If you then sign up, and usually if you also make a deposit, the casino or its affiliate programme may pay TallyBet a commission.
This is how we pay for the site. TallyBet is free to read, has no paywall and shows no adverts. Affiliate commission is our source of income.
We think you should know this before you click, which is why we publish this page and link to it from our about page.
Which links are affiliate links
Not every casino we review has an agreement with us. Where we do have one, the link to that casino is an affiliate link.
On TallyBet, affiliate links are the Play Now and Visit buttons that send you to a casino. They go through a redirect page on our own site with an address in this form:
tallybet.co.uk/go/<casino>/
That page forwards you to the casino’s tracking link, which carries the sub-ID “tallybet” so the casino knows the visit came from us.
Links that are not affiliate links include:
- Review buttons and links to our own pages, such as reviews, guides and the casinos page
- Links to regulators, licence registers and help services
- Links to casinos we have no agreement with
How to tell
There are a few simple ways to check whether a link is an affiliate link:
- The button. Play Now and Visit buttons that point to a casino are affiliate links.
- The address. Hover over the link, or press and hold on a phone. If the address contains /go/, it is an affiliate link.
- The link code. Our affiliate links are marked as sponsored in the page code, which tells search engines they are paid links.
If you would rather not use an affiliate link, you can type the casino’s address into your browser yourself. Our review will read the same either way.
How commission works
The exact terms depend on the agreement with each casino or affiliate programme. In general, the payment takes one of these forms:
| What | How it works |
|---|---|
| One-off payment | A fixed amount for each new player who signs up through our link and makes a deposit |
| Revenue share | A share of the casino’s net revenue from a player we referred, paid over time |
| Hybrid | A mix of a one-off payment and a revenue share |
| Redirect page | Affiliate links pass through /go/<casino>/, which forwards to the casino’s tracking link with the sub-ID “tallybet” |
| Tracking cookies | Set by the casino or its affiliate network under its own cookie policy, not by TallyBet |
| Reports to us | Counts of registrations, depositing players and commission, with no names or contact details |
A revenue share means we can earn more when a referred player loses more. We know that creates a pull in the wrong direction, which is why the rules in the next section exist.
What we receive and what we don’t
When you click an affiliate link, TallyBet sets no cookies of its own. Once you reach the casino, the casino or its affiliate network may set its own tracking cookies. That happens under their cookie and privacy policies, not ours.
From the casino or affiliate programme we receive reports with counts:
- How many people registered
- How many became depositing players
- How much commission was earned
We do not receive your name, email address, phone number or any other contact details. We cannot see your account, your deposits or your bets. Our privacy policy sets out what data the site itself handles.
Our editorial independence rules
Commission pays for the site, but it does not decide what we write. These rules apply to every review:
- Commission never changes a score, a warning or what a review says
- No casino pays for a review
- No casino sees or approves a review before it is published
- Casinos with and without an agreement are scored with the same desk score
- Casinos with an unverifiable licence or a record of unpaid withdrawals carry a warning, whether or not we have an agreement with them
Every review is researched from published information and fact-checked by a second person before it goes live. Our reviewers write under disclosed pen names, listed on our authors page. The full method is in our editorial policy.
What this means for you
Using an affiliate link costs you nothing extra. Any commission is paid by the casino or its affiliate programme, not by you.
The offer you see is the casino’s offer, not ours. Bonuses, wagering rules, free spins and payment terms are set by the casino and can change at any time. Always read the current terms on the casino’s own site before you sign up or deposit.
Most casinos on TallyBet are not licensed by the UK Gambling Commission and must not be used from Great Britain. Check the licence shown on each card and review before you click. TallyBet is for adults aged 18 and over. If gambling stops being fun, our responsible gambling page lists free help, including GamCare on 0808 8020 133.
